Washington, D.C. - The Rumsfeld Foundation is delighted to report on its 2014 grants to military charities supporting active duty troops, veterans, the wounded, their families and the families of the fallen.

This year's grants, totaling $879,175, will help our partners in serving the needs of returning veterans through a variety of services including immediate assistance for wounded troops and their families, employment and transition mentoring, therapeutic outdoor programs, support for the Special Operations community, and programs supporting caregivers, military spouses, and children of injured and fallen soldiers.

Since 2007, the Rumsfeld Foundation has donated more than $3.2 million in support of our nation's veterans and their families.

"We are most thankful for the sacrifices of our fine service members and their families. Our Foundation is privileged to work alongside such dedicated outfits and we remain grateful for their partnership and continued support of our troops and their families," said Don and Joyce Rumsfeld.

The Foundation's contributions in 2014 went to several impressive organizations that provide a range of services and assistance. A few of the terrific grantees include: Our Military Kids, in support of their grants to children of deployed service members for extracurricular activities, Paws for Patriots, in support of their placement of highly trained guide dogs and companion dogs with wounded veterans, the Vail Veterans Program, in support of their therapeutic ski and snowboard experiences for severely wounded veterans, and Wall Street Warfighters Foundation, in support of their training and placement of service disabled veterans in professions in the financial services industry. For a comprehensive list of the organizations we support and additional information on their efforts, please visit the partners page on our website.

The Rumsfeld Foundation, established in 2007, rewards leadership and public service at home and supports the growth of free political and free economic systems abroad. To this end, the foundation has four focus areas: supporting charities that benefit the men and women of the U.S. military and their families, graduate fellowships for students interested in public service, building linkages between young leaders from Central Asia to the United States, and global microfinance.
