2017 Veterans Day Grant Announcement

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 11, 2017

Washington, D.C. — This Veterans Day the Foundation is pleased to announce over $821,000 in 2017 grants from the Rumsfeld Foundation and Rumsfeld Family Fund to military charities assisting active duty troops, veterans, the wounded, their families and the families of the fallen.

All of Donald Rumsfeld's profits from the sales of his memoir, Known and Unknown, and the Churchill Solitaire app are contributed to the military charities the Foundation supports. In 2017 the total is currently over $120,000. In May 2017 the Foundation was pleased to announce that the Churchill Solitaire profits to date went towards a $500,000 grant to the Travis Manion Foundation to benefit its Character Does Matter Program. The Foundation’s 2017 grant recipients provide various types of support to our nation’s military and veteran communities across five key areas: employment and transition, assistance for wounded veterans, outdoor rehabilitative activities, support for the Special Operations community and for military families. Learn more about these key focus areas on our website.

The Foundation continues to partner with a number of top-rate organizations whose efforts provide unique and essential services to the U.S. military and veteran community. Further details on each organization can be found on our partners page. We encourage you to visit our partners’ websites to learn more about the important assistance they provide.

“This Veterans Day we reflect on all those, past and present, who have worn the uniform of our U.S. Armed Forces, the greatest military force in the world. We are grateful for their commitment and sacrifices on behalf of our nation. Our Foundation is honored to be able to work with such fine organizations in their important missions,” said Donald Rumsfeld, President of the Foundation.

Since its establishment in 2007, the Rumsfeld Foundation has provided grants totaling over $4.8 million to organizations supporting U.S. service members, veterans and their families.
