Washington, D.C. — On December 7th Donald Rumsfeld was honored to accept the 2017 "Community Leadership Award" on behalf of the Rumsfeld Foundation at the 6th Annual “If Not Me Then Who” Gala hosted by the Travis Manion Foundation.

The Foundation leadership and staff were pleased to join the event alongside many service members, veterans, families of the fallen and supporters of the U.S. military community.

Additional guests of honor and awardees included Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph Dunford, Jr. (USMC), Former FMF Navy Corpsman, Redmond Ramos, and Character Does Matter Scholarship Recipient, Diego Pinzon-Fontecha.

Rumsfeld gave remarks on the important work of the Travis Manion Foundation in connecting civilian and military communities as well as the impressive leadership and character of our nation’s service members.

“Every single person who serves is doing it because they want to. They understand the importance of defending our freedoms and the American people are deeply grateful… The [military] community of ours truly embodies the values of service, of character and of patriotism… that’s why the Travis Manion Foundation’s Character Does Matter program is such an important initiative,” said Rumsfeld.

Since 2007, the Foundation has donated more than $4.8 million to a number of organizations that provide a variety of services and assistance to active duty troops, returning veterans, the wounded and military families. Read more here...
