Washington, D.C. - Today the Rumsfeld Foundation announced its 2012 microfinance grants. This year's grants, totaling $355,000, will support the work of four global microfinance organizations.
- $150,000 grant to FINCA International to support its microfinance efforts and staff training in Afghanistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
- $100,000 grant to Opportunity International to support the expansion of financial services and training in Colombia.
- $75,000 grant to the Grameen Foundation to support the funding of a Senior Investment Officer to lead financing activities and implement investment strategies throughout Latin America.
- $30,000 grant to support ACCION International's microfinance programs in India and Latin America, focusing on improving education programs and expanding rural microfinance.
Donald Rumsfeld, President of the Rumsfeld Foundation, said "The efforts of these microfinance organizations have created valuable opportunities for the poor in many countries. We are pleased to continue to support their important work."
