Giving Back to our Service Members this Giving Tuesday

Washington, D.C. — This Giving Tuesday the Foundation is pleased to announce $536,000 in 2016 grants from the Rumsfeld Foundation and Rumsfeld Family Fund to military charities assisting active duty troops, veterans, the wounded, their families and the families of the fallen.

All of Donald Rumsfeld's profits from the sales of his memoir, Known and Unknown, and the Churchill Solitaire app are contributed to the military charities the Foundation supports. This year the total was $12,110.

"The men and women who wear the uniform of our United States military represent some of the finest our country has to offer. We are fortunate to benefit from their service, dedication and leadership on behalf of our nation and are pleased to be able to contribute to a number of military charities that support them and their families," said Donald Rumsfeld, President of the Foundation.

This year’s partner organizations receiving grants provide various types of support and programming in five critical areas: employment and transition, assistance for wounded veterans, outdoor rehabilitative activities, support for the Special Operations community and for military families. The Foundation is grateful for the efforts of these organizations in providing opportunities and assistance to meet the needs of military communities across the country and abroad. Since its establishment in 2007, the Rumsfeld Foundation has donated over $4 million to organizations supporting U.S. service members, veterans and their families.
