Washington, D.C. - The Rumsfeld Foundation is delighted to introduce its 2026 Graduate Fellows.
Following a competitive selection process, nine outstanding scholars have been chosen to join the Graduate Fellowship Network. Nominated in recognition of their leadership promise, integrity, and distinguished record of academic excellence and civic engagement, the 2026 cohort brings together individuals from a wide range of disciplines and professional experiences, united by a shared commitment to serving the nation. Over the coming year, these Fellows will pursue master’s and doctoral studies in fields including international relations, policy analysis, security, statecraft, defense and more.
The 2026 Fellows bring an impressive array of achievements, including:
- National Security Education Program Boren Scholarship Awardee
- Graduate Assistant supporting the Syracuse Intelligence Studies Consortium
- Recipient of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service
- Executive Producer for a student-run university television station
- Co-author of two books on U.S. strategy and great power competition
- President of the Stratagem Initiative at Georgetown University
- Recipient of five RAND Spotlight Awards
- Ever to Excel Robert A. Sherwood Civic Engagement Awardee
- Co-President of an intensive university Russian Club
Alongside providing a stipend supporting their graduate education, the Foundation welcomes these new Fellows into a vibrant network that offers year-round opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and connection. Through a variety of events, communications, and initiatives, Fellows will receive robust support as they pursue their careers in public service.
A 2026 Fellow noted in applying, “…my career aspirations are defined by a deep commitment to protecting American security with a proven track record of leadership experience. I want to dedicate my academic and professional life to the values of patriotism and public service…and I believe that the Fellowship will better prepare me to develop the skills necessary to serve as a leader in the national security sector.”
Entering its 18th year this fall, the program continues to expand its community of future public service leaders. With the addition of the 2026 Fellows, the Graduate Fellowship Network will comprise 230 Fellows, supported by 18 distinguished faculty Advisers from universities across the country who serve as mentors and nominators for the program.
The Foundation is proud to follow the many pathways of public service its network members have followed, including in various significant capacities in the Departments of War, Commerce, State and Homeland Security, the U.S. military, U.S. Congress, top policy and research centers, academia and more.
